Assoc. Prof. Lisbeth Frølunde and research assistant Bojana Romic participated in the Unity workshop: “Prototyping visual storytelling” at the Nordic Game Conference, May 21st 2014 in Malmø. The workshop was an introduction to basic editing in Unity, with special focus on using Unity to visualize interactive, transmedia projects.

The workshop presenter, Andy Touch, a Unity Game Engine ‘Evangelist’, showed great examples of games designed with Unity. We recommend Monument Valley.

Cross-platform game development
Unity is a cross-platform game development ecosystem for interactive 2D and 3D content which actually started in Copenhagen! It brands itself as a “democratizing ecosystem” and smashing “the time and cost barriers to creating uniquely beautiful games”. Unity has a large knowledge-sharing community.

The Nordic Game Conference is an annual event that takes place at Slagthuset, Malmø, and gathers game developers, designers, academics and game enthusiasts. Nordic Game is one of the largest games conferences, this year celebrating its 10th anniversary.
